From 1947 - Where are we now?

On the eve of anniversary of our Independence I asked my friend if he knew the national anthem. The question drew a stutter and splutter of few words but nothing close to what Rabindranath Tagore penned. Then the friend tried to cover it by pointing me to the controversies around the anthem. I felt really bad and low. Not for him but for our country. I am not an ideal citizen but I am not apathetic either. But friends I really want to know where are we going? I am not suggesting any remedy to the apathy around but just wondering.
